Georgia Tech-COPE Distinguished Lecture Series: Yasuhiro Koike - Wed. March 13, 4:00pm, ES&T L1255
The Georgia Tech-COPE Distinguished Lecture Series is pleased to welcome Dr. Yasuhiro Koike from Keio University on Wednesday, March 13 at 4pm in Lecture Room L1225 of the Environmental Science and Technology Building (ES&T). (Please note that this is not the usual auditorium in which many preceding Distinguished Lectures took place).
Dr. Koike is Professor in the Faculty of Science and Technology of Keio University (located in the Minato ward of Tokyo) and Director of the Keio Photonics Research Institute. He received his Ph.D. in Engineering from the Graduate School of Engineering, Keio University, Yokohama, Japan. He served as a visiting research staff at AT&T Bell Laboratories from 1989 to 1990. Dr. Koike has been Professor at Keio University since 1997. He specializes in photonics polymers, in particular, high-bandwidth graded-index polymer optical fibers (GI POF), highly scattered optical transmission (HSOT) polymers, and zero birefringence polymers.

The Georgia Tech-COPE Distinguished Lecture Series is pleased to welcome Dr. René Janssen from the Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) on Friday, January 25, at 4pm (MoSE Bldg-Room G011). Dr. Janssen is full professor of chemistry and physics at the Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e). He received his Ph.D. in 1987 from TU/e for a thesis on electron spin resonance and quantum-chemical calculations of organic radicals in single crystals. Dr. Janssen's lecture entitled: "Efficient Polymer Solar Cells", will be followed by a reception, which will provide a chance for faculty and staff to meet with him.
